And just a plain stylus pad seems like a budget option - but I'm not sure how it be to work with the stylus being separate from the screen you're working on. Working with a mouse sounds like a nightmare.
What I'm mainly wondering about is what the difference to sculpting with mouse, a plain stylus pad or a full on tablet would be? Looking at prices for full LCD tablets I might be better off keeping the iPad. If I wanna sculpt on my workstation the natural, and probably only, option would be to use ZBrush for this kind of work. It's an expensive device that ideally I would just like to sell off since the usage isn't really proportional to its price. It's the only thing I still use my iPad for. However, as great as Nomad Sculpt is on the iPad. where sculpting shape and details is such a breeze - as opposed to the traditional CAD programs I've used. I've been working on Resin prints for casting small metalwork, small CNC woodwork jobs for knobs, trinkets etc. I started working in Nomad Sculpt and this has been a great experience so far! For what I wanna do it's been perfect and I don't think I'll ever hit any limitations of the software.
Hey! I've been working in engineering CAD programs like Solidworks and Siemens NX for 7 years now, and the last few weeks I started getting into some more 'freeform' CAD methods which are better suited as a creative outlet I suppose.
